Tanner earned the trophy and $1000 payday in winning fashion this past Saturday night at the Black River Race Park in Poplar Bluff, Missouri after driving from last to first in both the b-main and the feature. The PCRA-sanctioned event saw thirty-two entrants in the late model division.

The night started perfectly as Tanner was running in the third position in his heat and chasing down the leaders. Halfway through the race, however, the ignition wire came loose and shut off power to the entire car. Tanner tried his best to get the car to refire, but ultimately had to be pushed back to the pits and forfeit the qualifier race.

Upon getting the problem squared away soon after, the #19B lined back up for the last chance b-main. He would have his work cut out for him starting in the back… or so everyone though. Tanner made quick work of the field and was leading by the end of the race. He went on to win by nearly a straightaway, locking him into the feature.

Tanner continued his dominance in the main event. Starting in the eighteenth position, he slowly made his way to the front while the #F1 of Jeff Floyd pulled away in the lead. Soon enough he broke into the top ten and was beginning to reach the top five. Near lap fifteen, one of Jeff Floyd’s tires began to lose air pressure. Just as the caution waved on lap eighteen for a spun car, Tanner made his way into the top three and was gaining steam. When the twenty-five lap race restarted, Tanner surpassed the second place car and soon took the lead over the #F1. He would continue his lead and even pull away until the checkers waved.

On Sunday, Tanner got back behind the wheel of his #96 car at Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee. He picked up the win in his heat after starting fourth and finished second in the feature behind his dad.

Tanner’s plans for this weekend are to compete at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Illinois.
